Sometime around year 830 of the common era, Abu Ja'far Muhammed ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi, a Persian mathematician more commonly known as Al-Khwarizmi, translated and expanded on the writings of famous Greek and Indian mathematicians to write two great works known as Algortmi de Numero and Hisab Al-Jabr w'Al-Muqabala.
It is from Algortmi de Numero that we derive the word Algorithm, which can be defined as a sequence of steps or instructions executed in order to solve a problem.
